Our Eternal Mother
God accepts us, despite the negative traits we have accumulated
A mother takes her child to the village fair. Distracted by the ostentatious festivities around, the child lets go of the mother’s hand and hops about enjoying the fun. Suddenly it is reminded of its mother and starts crying. Meanwhile the mother is also searching for the child. What would she do? She would go to the Information Counter and request them to announce the details of the child and she waits until the child is restored to her.
So is the relationship between us and God. God is our Mother - Eternal Parent. The Parent who cares for us much more than a worldly parent can; (‘Petra Thaayinum Aayina Seyyum Nalam Tharum Sollai Naan Kandu Kondaen Narayana Ennum Naamam’), The Mother who feeds us before we start crying for food. (‘Paal Ninainthu Ootum Thaayinum Saala Parinthu’), The Mother who cares for us even if we fall low, lower in profile than a stray dog roaming the streets. (‘Naayir Kadayai kidantha Adiyerkku Thayir Sirantha Thayaavaana Thathuvanae’!)
A calf may meander away from its herd, and after a day’s frolic return to its mother, dirty and hungry. The cow does not concern itself with how dirty the calf is; instead it caresses the calf while satiating its hunger. Similarly God accepts us, despite the negative traits we have accumulated. That is why God is called ‘Paapaharanan’.
You assume you are a doctor, engineer etc. All these are transient roles given to you on earth, whereas you have misconstrued them to be the true you.
