All in God's Work

Take the case of Thondaradipodi Azhwar. As Vipranarayanan, He was in serene penance in the forest. A devadasi passing by, observing his concentration, enticed him into loving her. He married her, led a family life and went to the extent of robbing the temple vessels for her sake and then God took charge of him and granted him wisdom.

God could have appeared before him during his penance and granted Moksha, couldn’t he? Why did God stage the drama of bringing a woman into his life, making him stoop down low and then reveal his spiritual heights to the world?

This is a lesson that you too should not feel bad over anything that happens in your life. All of you are sages, yearning for the grace of the Lord.

But the Lord tests you; do you know why? You still have some experiences to undergo. Vipranarayanan had some previous birth balance to settle with that devadasi. Till that account was closed, God could not do anything for him.

So also, people – good or bad – appear in your life to settle their dues and yours too. Once these are settled, God will take you to Him. So why fear? Exhaust your karmas. Don’t run; don’t hide.

Enlightenment is not sought. It happens. It seeks you out. If you have the requisite mellowness, it will come in a split second
