Conquer Your Self

Whatever you want to achieve is not an external attainment; it is an internal victory

Conquer Your Self

Alexander once went to meet an enlightened person. That wise man asked Alexander, ‘What are you doing?’ to which the Emperor replied, ‘I am conquering nations all over the world to add to my empire’, ‘How?’ ‘Declaring war over them.’ ‘What will you do after conquering all the nations?’ ‘I will return to my country.’ ‘What will you do thereafter?’ ‘I will recount the success and gain happiness from it’.

The wise person retorted, ‘Get a throne here, seat yourself on it, assume you have already conquered the world and you can gain happiness from the very thought. Why do you want to sacrifice so many lives in battle for feeding your success?’

Whatever you want to achieve is not an external attainment; it is an internal victory.

If you have enough faith in your own beliefs, you will find that it is impossible to be offended by the belief and conduct of others.
